For health and wellbeing
After many years of working with Yoga, Shiatsu, Equine Shiatsu and with influences from Tai Chi training and Qi Gong I have come to practice a form of body movement that encourages the flow of energy throughout the whole body. When there is equilibrium and a smooth flow of energy in every part of the energy channels (Meridians) and body, any imbalance or blockage is removed leading to balance which brings physical, mental, emotional and spiritual harmony.
Where is it done?
I teach this on a one-to-one or in a group setting (down on the beach is a great place to do this!) where you are comfortable and there is enough space for moving around. Each session lasts for about one hour, apart from the first one when a short introduction to your health matters is required by way of a questionnaire and chat.
What is it?
The practice incorporates Yogic breathing, Chi exercises, Makkho exercises, Qi Gong and Tai Chi style ways of moving, relaxations and mobilizing in a dance-like manner. Don’t worry if you have two left feet, you are not required to be a dancer to do this!
What do I need?
For comfort it is best to practise before or at least 1-2 hours after a light meal, wearing leggings or tracksuit trousers with a loose or stretch fitting top. It is worth having something like a Yoga mat for some of the exercises and relaxations.
You will come to appreciate your balance with gravity and how to listen to your body: where there might be resistance, stiffness or, conversely, ease of movement that is fluid and releasing. By moving in a continuous, unrestricted and non-prescriptive manner the alliance and trust that builds between your body and mind can filter into the everyday to aid posture, breathing, ease of movement and feelings of being grounded and generally comfortable.
As familiarity of what your body needs increases, the practice develops to a much more satisfying spontaneous and self-expressive experience. This journey is enjoyable and fun, it can also be quite amazing, illuminating and liberating.
